Ohlins S46PR1C1S rear shock Africa Twin . Ohlins S46PR1C1S rear shock Africa Twin: why it matters The Ohlins S46PR1C1S rear shock is built for the Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin DCT and the CRF1100L Africa Twin, two of the most capable adventure bikes on Indian roads and tracks. Öhlins has engineered this rear shock to handle the demands of long-distance riding, rough terrain and the full weight of a loaded adventure bike with a rider on board. A 46mm body houses the core technology: a rebound adjuster, a compression adjuster, an external pressurized gas reservoir and a hydraulic remote spring preload system. What the Ohlins S46PR1C1S rear shock brings to your Africa Twin The Ohlins S46PR1C1S replaces the standard rear shock with a suspension component that lets you tune how your bike sits and responds to the road. The hydraulic remote spring preload is controlled from the handlebar, so you can adjust how the shock compresses under load without stopping to reach down and turn a knob. On an adventure bike carrying luggage, a fuel tank and a passenger, this matters. You can dial in the right ride height for a loaded or unloaded machine in seconds. Rebound and compression adjustment are key tuning points. The rebound adjuster controls how quickly the shock extends after a bump, which affects how stable the bike feels over repeated rocks and ruts. The compression adjuster controls how the shock resists being pushed down, which changes the feel of the initial impact. Together they let you match the shock to your riding style, the roads you travel and the weight on the bike. The piggyback reservoir and why it matters The external pressurized gas reservoir, called a piggyback, sits outside the main shock body. This design allows the shock to handle longer travel and tougher inputs without the fade that happens when a regular shock heats up over hours of riding. The gas inside is pressurized, which helps maintain consistent damping even after the shock has absorbed hundreds of
