Description

The Ohlins KA736 shock absorber is a rear suspension upgrade for the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Z650. Built by Ohlins, one of the world’s leading suspension manufacturers, this shock brings adjustable rebound and manual preload to your bike, letting you tune the rear suspension to match your weight, riding style and the road beneath you. The KA736 is a single-unit rear shock designed to replace the standard unit on both the Ninja 650 and Z650 models, improving how your bike handles bumps, braking and cornering. Ohlins KA736 shock absorber: why it matters Ohlins KA736 for the Ninja 650 and Z650 The Ohlins KA736 shock absorber fits both the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Z650, two parallel-twin bikes that share the same frame and rear suspension points. Whether you ride the sportier Ninja or the upright Z, the shock works the same way: it absorbs impacts through a 46 mm piston working inside a 16 mm inner tube, and it lets you adjust how fast the shock extends after being compressed. That adjustable rebound is the key to tuning suspension without changing springs or oils. A faster rebound keeps the shock firmer when you hit a series of bumps; a slower rebound lets the suspension breathe on a smooth road. For the Ninja 650 and Z650, this adjustment transforms how the bike feels under hard braking, over a bump before a corner, or when the road turns rippled. Manual preload adjustment on the KA736 The Ohlins KA736 has manual preload adjustment, which lets you change how much the shock resists being compressed before it moves. Heavier riders, or riders carrying luggage, can dial in more preload to stop the bike from sagging; lighter riders can dial it back to let the suspension work through its full range on smaller bumps. Manual preload is an adjustment you make on the stand, and then leave it for a few hundred kilometres until the road or your weight changes. The 46 mm piston and 16 mm inner tube work together to deliver smooth, consistent damping across the suspension stroke
